Skelley Rottner P.C. was founded in 1962 by Joseph F. Skelley, Jr. Originally concentrating its practice on the defense of personal injury claims, today the firm practices in every area of civil litigation in all Connecticut state and federal courts.

Skelley Rottner P.C. devotes the majority of its practice to the representation of insurance companies.  The firm provides coverage opinions with respect to all aspects of insurance coverage, and it handles a variety of first-party and third-party insurance coverage actions including extra-contractual liability claims arising out of alleged acts of bad faith and unfair insurance practices.  Skelley Rottner P.C. has considerable experience investigating and defending arson, fraud, and insurance coverage claims.  It also maintains an insurance subrogation practice which is staffed by lawyers and other professionals dedicated to the recovery of monies paid by its clients to their insureds as a result of insured losses caused by third parties.  The firm represents attorneys and judges in connection with all stages of complaints before the Statewide Grievance Committee and the Judicial Review Committee.  Skelley Rottner P.C. also represents self-insured's in personal injury litigation and is experienced in defending product liability, liquor liability, toxic tort, and environmental pollution claims.  The firm is committed to using alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and arbitration, in order to bring about early resolutions where possible.  In addition to its trial practice, Skelley Rottner P.C. maintains an active appellate court practice.
